Workforce Development

We are committed to Raising the Standard for carnival and working with others to professionalise the sector through formal accreditation and by providing high quality skills and training to enable young people to enter the workforce with relevant knowledge and experience.
The New Carnival Company is a member of the PUSH (Partnership for Urban South Hampshire)/Artswork Creative and Cultural Industries Network promoting skills and work based learning particularly for young people. We have recently been successful in a consortium bid to the Creative Employment Programme to take on a Creative Apprentice, Coral Scarr, who will be working with us for one year whilst studying for her City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Community Arts Administration.
More recently we have been engaged with Creative & Cultural Skills, the UK Sector Skills Council, and are working with them towards The NCC becoming a Group Training Association – a leadership role to promote opportunities in the Carnival sector for Apprenticeships and Interns, currently under represented.
We would encourage any carnival and celebratory arts organisation with a commitment to Raising the Standard to get in touch with us.
