Newchurch Lantern Trail: Thursday 22 October

audience with fire brands

Some enchanted evening…..

More ‘Down to the Coast’ fun and creativity promised for October when the New Carnival Company produces its second outdoor event at the Bee Fields in Newchurch, Isle of Wight.  A successor to Alice’s Wonder Trail, commissioned last Easter by East Wight Landscape Partnership, the project aims to involve local people in learning about, and celebrating, the biodiversity on their doorstep.

New Carnival Company will be working with Arreton and Newchurch Primary Schools, FONS, Newchurch Cubs and Scouts, Newchurch Art Group, and through open community workshops to produce giant illuminated installations and themed lanterns for the Trail. Expect to see bats, badgers, owls and foxes as never before.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Newchurch Parish Sports and Community Association, All Saints Church and the Parish Council are  lending support to the project, which is being funded through the Heritage Lottery.

The Newchurch Lantern Trail takes place on Thursday 22 October. Meet at the Church Hall for 6.30pm for a walk through Martins Wood and the Bee Fields by lantern light. Refreshments at the end of the trail in Newchurch School hall. An unmissable, magical experience for the whole family. FREE
