Sea to Shore: The IW Kite Festival

Saturday 21 September at Fort Victoria Country Park, nr Yarmouth. The New Carnival Company presents an outdoor celebration of local environment, creativity, and family fun. We’re ready and the weather is booked!
Come along and enjoy professional Kite Displays from Shropshire based artists Sky Bums, a public kite flying area, Kite Making workshops, Samba music from FaT Samba band, Storytelling from Sue Bailey, the Oyster Girls Morris dancers, try circus skills with Wight Stars and much more!
Join the KITE WALK – a fun and easy 1 mile procession from River Road Car Park, Yarmouth to the site, meet at 11.30am. Everyone welcome, including well behaved dogs!
Frankie Goldspink, Participation & Learning Manager for The New Carnival Company said ‘The Festival has a wide community focus. Our Outreach Team has been out and about all over the Island this summer helping people create their own kites for the Festival. Over 200 kites, many made from Biodegradable materials and decorated taking inspiration from local Sea and Shore biodiversity, will be on display along professionally made kites. You can even make your own in the workshop tent if you don’t have one to bring along!’
Entrance to the Festival is FREE!
Please be aware there is limited car parking on site, but FREE Park and Ride from Golden Hill Fort and FREE parking at Overflow car park, River Road, from 11.15am for Kite Walkers only.
The event runs from 11am to 4pm.
Fort Victoria Country Park, nr Yarmouth is off the A3054, PO41 ORR.
Park and Ride @ Golden Hill Fort, PO40 9TD is on request throughout the day.
Reserved parking on site for Disabled blue badge holders.
The Café and all the regular attractions at Fort Victoria will be open during the Festival.
